None of this applies during an assessment. An assessment is silent, and does not tell you whether an answer was right.

Sound effects

A short sound when you answer a step in practice, earn a badge, beat your best time, level up or finish a shift.

Clock sounds

Only on Agent and Veteran difficulty. Rookie has no clock. The clock counts against the step's target time and never ends a step.

If Sound effects is Off, the clock is silent too.

Narrator commentary

The narrator uses its own voice, not your screen reader's. Practice only.

Narrator voice

Pick one different from your screen reader's. To add more, open Windows Settings, then Time and language, then Speech, then Add voices.

Plays under a shift, and drops to a murmur whenever anything is spoken.

Scales and reflows every page. It is separate from browser zoom and Windows display scaling, and stacks with both. It takes effect as you drag.

Your assistive technology

Command questions are asked about your own tool. On a screen reader the ticking clock is left off the page. Use “Read elapsed time” instead. Full reference on the Resources page.

Game announcements

These go to your screen reader, not the narrator voice. Chatty descriptions need the narrator switched on.
